Leading Music into the Classrooms

Andrew Kutt

Andrew Kutt shares his original songs, as well as some classic traditional songs that illustrate key concepts of Montessori’s Cosmic Curriculum – including the web of life, the solar system, caring for the planet, friendship, and building peace. Plato once said, “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything.” Music is a universal language that we all understand. By appealing to our emotions, it has the ability to break down complex issues into relatable human concepts like love, friendship, fear, or loss. From centuries ago and for many to come, music will continue transcend borders while inspiring expression and communication among humankind. In this way, music expands children’s horizons and opens their minds to new ideas. Music can also be excellent tools for teaching English. The workshop will also explore the ways in which teachers and students can become songwriters. Everyone can have fun and learn through music. No experience as a musician, singer, or songwriter is necessary!
