Literacy and Language for Young Children

Ann Epstein

In this workshop, Ann Epstein investigates how young children develop language and early literacy skills while evaluating the support of this development through the Montessori language curriculum. Language and literature become meaningful and fulfilling when they are linked to the lives of learners and to the wider contexts of culture and society. In this ever-changing, information-rich world, it is essential that young people develop a broad range of literacy and communication skills to participate fully in society on a global scale. Participants will explore extensions, including introductory grammar work, and evaluate supplemental activities, such as simple dramatization of classic stories.
